1. Whenever you feel like buying every piece of stuff in the sale just put it on your wish list. That will give you time to think if it is really required. This is because everything you buy has an environmental impact during its manufacturing process.
2. Be Vegetarian. With new technology such as hydroponic methods of the plantation, you can produce your own vegetables at your house in very little space. You should find an alternative for animal protein as it needs almost ten times the water to breed animals. You should order or cook only how much is required.
3. Go Paperless. It is right from printing to use in the kitchen and washrooms. Use reusable paper napkins or tissues or maybe cloth napkins can be used. This will save some trees and improve the carbon footprint. Maybe you can use your old t-shirt as wipes and wash them between two uses. You can avoid taking receipts at the ATM.
4. You can install and use renewable energies in your house. Considering the space and budget, you can go for renewable energies to produce energy used in your house. You can opt to air dry the clothes instead of dryers.
5. You can avoid fossil fuels and go green with a cycle. To reduce footprint you can even initiate carpool. You can even opt for public transport.
6. You can reuse the water which is going out as waste from your house. You can avoid using bathtubs and may opt for low-flow showers.
7. Carry your own reusable water bottle or shopping bags. This would reduce the usage of plastic bags and bottles. You can avoid using sanitary napkins too and go for menstrual cups which are reusable.
8. Along with your friends, you can plant native trees in the barren land in the surroundings. Not only plant but nurture the trees. This will increase the forestation area. You can use native bird feeder and seeds to feed the local birds and save on nature.
9. You should go for organic fertilizers or washing powders as they would reduce pollution in land and water after use.
10. You should go out and play some ground sports instead of sitting at home and playing video games or watching those movies and TV channels. This will not only reduce your carbon footprint but also keep you physically fit.
11. You can use kitchen waste as compost which can be used in your own vegetable garden or give to local farmers. You can even give the kitchen waste to agencies that produce manure or compost for further sale.
12. You should weatherproof your house to sustain the extreme variation in the weather. Or maybe you can find an energy-free solution for the weather effect. Like you can layer up with clothes instead of turning on the heater.
A very recent issue to ponder upon is the use of one-time PPE kits and masks to avoid Covid-19 infection. But none of us are thinking about the other problem which is being generated to solve one problem. One way to tackle this is to use a washable mask with the same kind of layering.
